The clean up effort from the attack had been immense, clearing all traces of the attack from the school grounds in a matter of hours. Smith’s funeral had been held the same day in a small green near the school.

The next few days saw a massive bustle of activity, with people splitting up to do their various allotted tasks. Daniel and Ian both found themselves assigned to the security detail. The school itself was an old Victorian building of three stories offering a good view of the surrounding area and therefore ideal as a permanent watchtower. Overall it was an imposing structure from without. Yet welcoming and warm from within as most schools are oddly designed to be. Gaining access had proven difficult, as over the years security had become paramount as it had in many schools, both to keep the children in and other ‘unwanted’ visitors out this lead to a large fence running the length of the perimeter wall and large padlocked gates barring the main entrance.
